The only difference I saw when comparing the two models was the V8 comes with the soft roller brush for bare floors and the V8 Animal does not. If you have a lot of bare floors to clean, i'd go with the V8 even though it's a little more expensive. It does a phenomenal job picking up fine hair/dust from hardwood floors.
