I consider AOE2DE far better than AOE3DE. I won't say you are wrong, just that we have different play styles and preferences. Mostly cause the AoE III has much more different playing style with the home cities and cards. AoE3 unit models and animations are far better and it also has better building scaling. AoE4 landmarks are generally better than AoE3 wonders, but they're still quite lacking. African and Colonial age ups are just as good if not better, and if you include revolutions as age ups then AoE3 is easily the best.

Is Age of Empires 4 easier than 2 : I've always found two really challenging and have only beaten hard AI once, but I consistently lose. I bought age 4 recently and found the AI quite passive and within 20 game hours I've beaten it on hard. I just hit the 30 mark and I feel almost ready to beat hardest. The AI seems so easy!!!
