Cyril and Methodius Cultural Route

The Cyril and Methodius Route is the first route focusing on Slavic cultural heritage recognized by the Council of Europe. It is the first certified route originating and based in the Czech Republic. It builds on the millennium-old Cyril and Methodius cultural tradition.The exact ethnic origins of the brothers are unknown; there is controversy as to whether Cyril and Methodius were of Slavic or Greek origin, or both.They translated the Bible into the language later known as Old Church Slavonic (or Old Bulgarian) and invented the Glagolitic alphabet, a Slavic alphabet based on Greek characters that in its final Cyrillic form is still in use as the alphabet for modern Russian and a number of other Slavic languages.

Is Bulgarian related to Russian : The Bulgarian language is a Slavic language, which means it belongs to the same family of languages as Russian. Both are closely related. Is Bulgarian the same as Serbian

Yes, Bulgarian and Serbian are mutually intelligible, at least from a Bulgarian's point of view (or hearing). Actually, it's easier to understand spoken Serbian than the written form as Serbs tend to use Latin and not Cyrillic script while we Bulgarians use exclusively the latter one.

Who invented Cyrillic : Some researchers believe that the Glagolitic alphabet was modified by their Bulgarian students, St Kliment of Ohrid and St Naum of Preslav, after their arrival in Bulgaria in 886. It is thought that St Kliment named the new alphabet Cyrillic after his teacher St Cyril.

They are credited with devising the Glagolitic alphabet, the first alphabet used to transcribe Old Church Slavonic. After their deaths, their pupils continued their missionary work among other Slavs. Both brothers are venerated in the Eastern Orthodox Church as saints with the title of "equal-to-apostles".

If you're looking for the easiest Slavic language to learn, we would suggest Bulgarian with the lack of grammatical cases. The most beautiful Slavic language is Czech in our opinion, although this choice is, of course, very subjective. There you have it!

Is Russian hard to learn

Russian. Ranking fourth on our list of hardest languages to learn, Russian uses a Cyrillic alphabet — made up of letters both familiar and unfamiliar to us. Is Saint Cyril Bulgarian : Saints Cyril (Constantine) and Methodius were neither Greeks nor Bulgarians. They were Slavs from Macedonia.

Are there Russian saints

The majority of saints were canonized in the period between 1550 and 1721, including around 123 local and 23 church-wide saints. Some were included in Synaxes (собор), groupings of saints of a region, such as Synaxis of the Novgorod Saints or Synaxis of All Saints of Moscow.

I would agree with others that Czech grammar is more difficult than Russian, and Polish even more complicated. I dabbled in Croatian a couple of years ago and found it really easy to pick up, at least up to A2 level. It was a lot of fun.The Foreign Service Institute categorizes Czech as a level IV language, which means a very hard language that takes 44 weeks or 1,100 hours to learn at a basic conversational level. If you still decide to learn the basics – you are in for a hard road.

Is Polish or Russian harder : In terms of grammar, Russian is easier to learn than Polish. Although Russian and Polish contain many consonants, making spelling and pronunciation difficult, Russian is easier to learn than Polish. Russians don't use the verb “to be” in the present tense, which can throw off new learners.
