Read with Oxford Stage 6 is for children who reading confidently, silently and independently. They will have a greater understanding of what they are reading, feel comfortable tackling longer books in one sitting and will enjoy books of different genres.My current 9 and 7 year olds are delighted to hear Harry Potter as many times as possible; they've each read the first 3 books at least 4-5 times and don't tire of them. With all that said, ages 5-6+ have seemed to work really well for our family to start reading the first few books aloud.
Is Harry Potter 7th grade level : This does not mean that others can't read / watch and understand Harry Potter. Its just that book four onwards might be a little frightening to kids below 8. If you are asking for an academic level, they are rated at 4th to 7th grade levels through the accelerated reader program.
