There are three Account Types available to new players in Lotro today, Free to Play, Premium, and VIP (subscribed).Game is definitely not dead and it receives constand updates and patches. It is just the steam forum is not supported anymore and nothing shows up on steam. If you wanna see the patches go to the official website or even better the wiki. There are now 2 VIP only severs 'Legendary Servers'.Gameplay. Similar to other MMORPGs, players control a character avatar within the game world, interacts with objects, NPCs and other players. Characters gain levels by earning experience points, acquiring both new skills and trait points, which can be assigned in various configurations to customize personal playstyle.

There is "Pay for Convenience" where one can use Money and then LOTRO Points that also can go into other In-Game Currencies to achieve certain things. Almost all content from levels 0-95 is now free for all players. Many previously VIP perks have also now been unlocked for F2P players. Can I play LOTR online solo : Much depends on how you prefer to play. A class with good self-healing or heavy armour or both has advantages if you want to knock off dungeon content solo. For landscape it will kill enemies more slowly than some consider optimal.
