Should you play The Evil Within before The Evil Within 2 : It's absolutely worth playing through the first game – both to have context for the sequel, and to experience its weird convoluted story. That said, you may or may not want to do it, and that depends on your tolerance to jank. Evil Within 1 is VERY janky.
Does Evil Within 2 continue the story
It's a continuation but to be perfectly blunt, you don't need to play the first if you don't want to. I LOVE the series, but for newbies, starting at TEW 2 is my advice. The game spends quite a lot of time filling you in on what happened in TEW 1 and anything it doesn't fill in, has no bearings on the plot.
How many copies did The Evil Within 2 sell : The Evil Within 2 has sold 227,653 copies on steam.
If the first game was a failed attempt to capture the spirit of Shinji Mikami's classic Resident Evil 4, the sequel is a successful attempt at something much better: finding a chilling, exhilarating voice of its own," was Philip Kollar's conclusion on Polygon with a score of 9/10.
Unlike most series' that grow increasingly longer, The Evil Within 2 is (spoiler alert) the shortest of the two Evil Within games. This is especially surprising when considering that Evil Within 2 differentiated itself from its predecessor by implementing an open-world, a staple of lengthy titles.
Did The Evil Within 2 sell well
The Evil Within 2 sold around 200.000 units in its opening week, around 1/4th of the original. This can be attributed to the originals weak (critical) reception, bad marketing and last-minute reveal (the game was revealed around a few months before release). The Evil Within received a generally positive reception upon release; praise was mostly directed at the game's horror elements, gameplay and atmosphere, while criticism was directed at the game's story, characters and technical issues.Winner: The Evil Within [9]
If there's one thing the first Evil Within game excels in, it's the terrifying atmosphere. Every location you visit is inexplicably creepier than the last, and I was on my toes every time I had to enter a dark room or turn a tight corner.
Depends on what people would find scary. For the most part it's very much like any other zombie game, but there are a few more "ghostly" encounters which have a bit more of a horror feel to them. Me too. It's got some legit freaky environments and encounters.
Is Lily Dead In The Evil Within 2 : In The Evil Within 2, it was revealed that Lily did not die. In truth, she'd been abducted by MOBIUS and replaced with the body of a girl of similar physical characteristics. She was taken by as a candidate for becoming a new Core for Mobius' STEM system.
Did Evil Within 1 sell well : In the United States, the game was the third best-selling game of October 2014. It set the record for the highest-selling first month of sales for a new survival horror intellectual property (IP), until the record was later broken by Dying Light, when it was released in January 2015.
Was Evil Within 1 a success

This can be attributed to the originals weak (critical) reception, bad marketing and last-minute reveal (the game was revealed around a few months before release).I think a lot of TEW2's 'failure' is a response to the first game. Factors like open world, story, etc, don't really impact the game's initial sales since no one knew how that would play out. Reviews for TEW2 are on par with TEW1. But I know a lot of people who were disappointed in 1, and skipped 2.
Is The Evil Within 2 OK for kids : Still not for young kids – several enemy designs are very disturbing, and it's still a game about madness and murder, but Evil Within 2 can be considered less shocking/provocative than the original and offers a more rounded experience.
